About Us

Hello, we're Kim and Tom, the Co-Founders of Teachers Turned Tutors.

Kim holds a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Mathematics Education and a Master of Science for Teachers in Mathematics from the University of New Hampshire. Tom, on the other hand, graduated from Colby College with dual degrees in Mathematics and Economics. Both of us are certified math teachers with a wealth of teaching and tutoring experience, totaling over 30 years.

The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic prompted us to step away from traditional classrooms and shift our focus to expanding our work in private tutoring. This challenging time, while difficult in many aspects, inspired us to find innovative ways to deliver educational support online, ultimately leading to the creation of our company.

Throughout our careers, we've had the privilege of working at some of the country's top private schools, including Salisbury School in Connecticut, Pace Academy in Georgia, and Porter-Gaud School in South Carolina. Our experiences at these institutions allowed us to connect with exceptional educators who share our passion for teaching. This network of talented teachers has enabled us to identify and recruit experts in various subject areas, ensuring that we can provide excellent tutoring services beyond mathematics.

Our primary specialization is in tutoring mathematics. We take pride in helping students understand that math doesn't have to be a daunting challenge. We've developed proven methodologies that align with our mission to demystify math and alleviate the stress associated with it. This approach not only leads to student success but also boosts their confidence in tackling math-related tasks.
